CULTURE
Culture is tied to identity and is celebrated in all its forms at
Wainuiomata Intermediate.
We are always looking to develop and strengthen our school culture and its links to the ethnic identity of our students and community.
We celebrate diversity and welcome input from students and their families on how we can make their culture visible in our school and ensure they feel included and valued at Wainuiomata Intermediate.
Our Bilingual Māori class, Te Kāhui Tamariki is an option for students wanting to explore their learning with a Māori worldview.
We cater for all levels of fluency and for students of any ethnicity wanting, and willing, to immerse themselves in Te Ao Māori.
We also have Tamaiti o le Pasifika, a class where students are taught through a Pasifika lens, building students’ confidence and strengthening identity in their culture.
One of our school values is Whanaungatanga, and we try to build that sense of family into everything that we do at Wainuiomata Intermediate.
